This Collection of work was born from a simple ideology: ‘To do the best I can’.

I set about achieving this through reducing a piece of furniture to its basic core- four legs and surface. Throughout this process, I developed a joinery theory that would demonstrate evidence of construction, provide a high degree of strength, and champion the source material, timber.

An investigatation into Danish paper cord weaving allowed me to resolve a seating surface that is durable, comfortable, and striking to look at. With these elements combined, the ‘Mara bench’ was born in 2022. This piece created a stylistic foundation to further develop into a (ever expanding) Collection of pieces. In developing new work for this collection, experimentation challenges the foundation of work- promoting development and innovation, whilst remaining wholly connected to each piece that came before it.
